Disney release synopsis for new Angelina Jolie film:
Maleficent is best known as the villain from Disney’s 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. Now a new version of the tale will be told through Maleficent’s eyes with Angelina Jolie starring as ‘The Mistress of All Evil’. In May 2009 Disney announced the project
with Jolie in the titular role. However since then many directors have been associated with the film but nothing was ever set in stone. Those names included Brad Bird (The Incredibles), Tim Burton (Frankenweenie) and David Yates (Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2). Robert Stromberg, who has worked as a production designer on Avatar and Alice in Wonderland, was confirmed as the director in January 2012. Up until now no details about the films plot have been released, but today a synopsis has emerged from The House Of Mouse.

The synopsis reads: “Maleficent is the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.”
Maleficent will be released on July 2nd 2014 and will star Angelina Jolie, Peter Capaldi, Juno Temple, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson and many more.
