Warner Bros. Pictures has debuted this first TV spot for ’300: Rise of an Empire,’ the upcoming follow-up to Zack Snyder’s ’300.’ Planned for a March 7th release, ’300: Rise of an Empire’ stars Rodrigo Santoro returning as Xerxes, Sullivan Stapleton as Themistokles, Jack O’Connell as Calisto, Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo, David Wenham as Dilios, and Eva Green as Artemisia.

300: Rise of an Empire’ is based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel that takes Xerxes, the Persian leader who is an antagonist in ’300,’ and turns him into more of a pivotal figure. He’s a man in search of godhood after the death of his father, battling an Athenian warlord named Themistokles. The story takes place over the course of several years, but the focal point is the battle of Artemisium, which occured in 480 BC. Previous reports had Zack Snyder – who in my eyes done a fantastic job with ’300′ – pegged to direct until Warner Bros and producer Christopher Nolan signed him up to helm ‘Man of Steel.’ Noam Murro (five-time DGA nominated commercials director) is on board to direct the film. Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.  “300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemesia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Warner Bros. The film is directed by Noam Murro, from a screenplay by Zack Snyder & Kurt Johnstad, based on the graphic novel Xerxes, by Frank Miller.  It is produced by Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Bernie Goldmann.  Thomas Tull, Frank Miller, Stephen Jones and Jon Jashni serve as executive producers
